Coconut Grove is located South of U.S. 1 and Rickenbacker Causeway, and is bound West by LeJeune Road and East by Biscayne Bay. Coconut Grove is filled with a history of many firsts: the first South Florida hotel built in 1882, one of the first naval air stations built in 1917 during World War I by the U.S. Navy, and the first library in the county, which still operates today as the Coconut Grove Library, were all located in Coconut Grove. One can get a taste of Coconut Grove’s rich history today by visiting the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and The Kampong. Vizcaya is the former estate of the wealthy businessman James Deering and the beautiful Mediterranean-inspired villa is surrounded by a tranquil lush garden and a terrace that descends towards the sea. The Kampong is the former botanical garden and home of Dr. David Fairchild. The beautiful estate holds exotic plant life from Asia, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, and serves as a picturesque location for weddings and other private events.

Today, Coconut Grove is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Miami and is distinguished by its laid-back, bohemian lifestyle.
