El Portal Homes

El Portal is the Spanish word for “the gate”, and the name of this area is derived from the two wooden gates that once stood as a gateway to this residential village. Located underneath Miami Shores and right above Little Haiti, El Portal offers a peaceful break from the hubbub of Miami’s Upper East Side. El Portal is also a site of rich history, boasting the first archaeological site to be publicly recognized and preserved in Miami-Dade, known as the Little River Mound.

What you’ll find is a picturesque and tranquil village of historic single-family homes enveloped by a canopy of oak trees and filled with chirping birds. The lush subtropical village also serves as a bird sanctuary, so don’t be surprised if you encounter majestic peacocks and ibises on a morning walk. The village also serves as a home for monarch butterflies as they migrate to North America and for manatees in the portion of the Little River that is part of El Portal. The result is residential living among an oasis of South Florida plant and animal life, transforming El Portal into a rare jewel within the bustle of Miami.
