Miami Springs Homes

Another one of Miami’s hidden gems, Miami Springs is a quiet residential neighborhood featuring a wide variety of home styles dating back to the 1920’s (though many of the homes today date back to the 40’s and 50’s, and even several newly built homes). When it comes to ͞centrally located͟, you can’t get much more central than Miami Springs when it comes to Miami as a whole. It is located just north of the Miami International airport, east of Doral, and south of Hialeah. Getting anywhere in Miami Dade county is easy when you live in this location!
The city dates back to 1926 during the first Miami real estate boom. Along with a few other areas such as Coral Gables and Opa Locka, Miami Springs was one of the first planned communities in the area. This one was founded by Glenn Curtiss, who was an inventor, aviator and developer. Similar to Coral Gables with its Spanish Mediterranean influence and Opa Locka with its Arabian influence, the early development of Miami Springs was started with a specific look in mind. In the case of Miami Springs, the influence was Southwestern, particularly Pueblo Revival from New Mexico. Several of the houses and buildings in this style are still standing today, including the historically protected Hotel Country Club which was built by Glenn Curtiss himself in 1926, as well as Curtiss’s personal home, now called simply the Curtiss Mansion which was completely restored in 2012.
Today, Miami Springs is known for its small-town community feel and its open tree-lined streets. Many residents who live in Miami Springs have lived there for generations. It’s the kind of neighborhood that once you discover it, you never want to leave!
