The Roads Homes

There are many things that make The Roads one of Miami’s best neighborhoods. First, it’s still seen as a ͞hidden treasure͟. Second, it has some of the City of Miami’s most stunning homes. Third, its location puts you in the heart of Miami – directly west of Brickell, directly north of Coconut Grove, just a few blocks from Downtown and Little Havana, with extremely easy access to major highways and thoroughfares. Living in the Roads means living in a luxurious, charming, tree-lined enclave with all the perks of living in the urban center but none of the cons!

The area got its name from the fact that its streets are all named ͞roads͟ instead of ͞avenue͟ or ͞street͟as is common in most other areas of Miami. This is because the streets in this neighborhood are diagonal, going from Southwest to Northeast, unlike most of Miami which is on a North-South and East-West grid system. The original idea for the diagonal streets came from one of Miami’s pioneers Mary Brickell, who intended the area to be a pedestrian-friendly alternative to Miami’s other streets. Her idea, which was beautifully implemented, was to have large median walkways and roundabouts that featured native Miami flora. The original name of the area was Biscayne Hammocks, but over the years the name ͞The Roads͟ became more popular and stuck to this day!
